PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: August 30, 2026
Brown Forces builds apps that keep your data on your device. Most of our apps collect nothing at all. App-specific details are below; apps that need an account have their own detailed policies, linked from this page.
RecZoom
The short version: RecZoom collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no network connections of any kind. Your videos and photos save directly to your photo library and never leave your device.
What RecZoom is
RecZoom shows a magnified live camera view and lets you record video or capture photos of it. That is the whole app.
No data collected
RecZoom has no sign-in, no analytics or advertising SDKs, and makes no network calls. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted anywhere. Brown Forces has no servers involved in running RecZoom and receives no information from it.
Camera, microphone, and photo library
RecZoom asks for three permissions, each used only on your device:
- Camera — to show and record the magnified live view.
- Microphone — to record audio with your videos. You can deny this and RecZoom will record silent video.
- Photo library (add-only) — to save your recordings and photos. RecZoom can add to your library but cannot read, browse, or see anything already in it.
Children
RecZoom collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

BFTS Expense Tracker
The short version: BFTS Expense Tracker is still local-first. Your imported statements, transactions, labels, and exports live on your device. Optionally, you can connect a bank for automatic sync via Plaid; if you do, the app uses Sign in with Apple and a small Brown Forces backend that stores only an encrypted access token tied to your account — it never stores your transactions.
What BFTS Expense Tracker is
It imports your bank/credit-card statements (CSV or OFX/QFX files you provide) and can optionally connect a bank via Plaid for automatic sync. Either way, re-labeling charges, setting auto-labeling rules, and exporting clean CSV and PDF reports all happen on your device.
- Import — CSV or OFX/QFX statement files you choose to bring in.
- Connect (optional) — link a bank via Plaid for automatic transaction sync.
- Label — re-label charges by hand or with auto-labeling rules you set.
- Export — clean CSV and PDF reports, shared only where you choose.
Your data stays on your device
Whether your transactions arrive by import or by bank sync, your transactions, labels, and exports are stored only in the app's on-device database. Brown Forces never stores your transactions.
Connecting a bank (optional)
If you choose to connect a bank, you first sign in with Apple. The app then talks to a small Brown Forces backend that brokers the connection to Plaid, our bank-data partner. Plaid securely returns your transactions directly to your device — Brown Forces does not see or store them.
The backend stores only an encrypted Plaid access token and a sync cursor, associated with your Apple sign-in identifier. It never stores your transactions, balances, or account numbers.
You can disconnect a bank at any time from within the app. Disconnecting removes the bank connection at Plaid and deletes the stored token from our backend.
Sign in with Apple
Sign in with Apple is used only to identify you to the backend so bank sync can be tied to your account. We don't request or store your name or email. No sign-in is required to import statements, label transactions, or export reports — those work entirely offline.
Payments
The app offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock export, processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; Brown Forces never receives your card or payment details — only Apple's anonymous confirmation that the purchase is valid.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

BFTS Scribe
The short version: BFTS Scribe listens to a visit or your dictation and drafts the clinical note for you. Audio is encrypted on your phone before it ever leaves the device. Once you confirm the note is saved in your EHR, the note and transcript are permanently erased from our servers. We never use your patients’ data or your edits to train models, we never sell it, and we never use it for advertising. A Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available for clinics.
Connecting your patients’ outside records
With the patient’s explicit consent, BFTS Scribe can pull their records from a connected health system — their own hospital or clinic patient portal — to reconcile labs, medications, problems, allergies, and procedures into your note. This uses the standard patient-authorized SMART-on-FHIR flow: the patient signs in to their own portal and authorizes read-only access. Brown Forces never sees or stores the patient’s portal password.
We request read-only access, and only for the data types needed to reconcile the visit. The pulled record is used to populate your note and is then discarded — Brown Forces does not retain the raw outside record beyond the working session, never sells it, and never uses it to train models. The access token lives only in the device Keychain, for the session.
What BFTS Scribe is
BFTS Scribe is an ambient AI medical scribe — an iPhone app plus a backend. It records a patient visit or your dictation, transcribes it, and drafts the clinical documentation so you can review, edit, and save it into your EHR.
BFTS Scribe drafts documentation only. It does not diagnose, provide treatment, or offer medical advice. The clinician is always responsible for reviewing and finalizing every note.
What we collect and why
To do its one job — producing your documentation — BFTS Scribe processes two kinds of data:
- Audio Data — the recorded visit or dictation you capture.
- Health-related data — the clinical note text drafted from that audio.
- Both are used solely to produce the clinician’s documentation. They are never used for tracking, never sold, and never used for advertising.
Encryption and your two tiers
Audio is encrypted on your phone (a libsodium sealed box) before it leaves the device. Which servers touch it depends on your tier:
Sealed Cloud tier — our cloud front door stores only ciphertext it cannot read; the keys never leave your device, so the front door is zero-knowledge. Audio is decrypted only transiently, in memory, to transcribe it — never written to disk in the clear.
Sovereign tier — everything stays on your clinic’s own on-premise appliance. Nothing leaves your walls, giving you true end-to-end encryption.
How long we keep it (purge-on-accept)
BFTS Scribe is built to hold as little as possible for as short as possible:
- Purge-on-accept — the moment you confirm a note is saved in your EHR, the note and its transcript are permanently erased from Brown Forces servers.
- Audio ciphertext is deleted immediately after transcription.
- Anything you never finalize is automatically purged within 30 days.
- Backups expire within 7 days.
How notes are generated (AI)
Notes are drafted by a Brown Forces in-house model. If that model is temporarily unavailable, note generation may fall back to a third-party AI API (Anthropic) solely to draft the note. That provider operates under a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) and processes the data only to draft your documentation.
We do not train on your data
By default, your clinicians’ edits and your patients’ data are never used to train models. A separate Language Improvement Program exists but is strictly opt-in and off by default; nothing is used for model improvement unless you deliberately turn it on.
HIPAA
BFTS Scribe is HIPAA-ready, and a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available for clinics that need one. Contact us to put a BAA in place before you go live.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and its associated data from within the app at any time.

If this policy ever changes materially, we will update the effective date above.

BFTS Volume Boost
The short version: BFTS Volume Boost has no backend, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. Live Boost processes microphone audio in memory, in real time, and never records or transmits it. Files you import for the File Booster are copied only to your device's local storage. The only data that ever leaves your device is the standard purchase record Apple's App Store handles for the one-time unlock — Brown Forces never sees your payment information.
What BFTS Volume Boost is
BFTS Volume Boost is a personal sound amplifier for everyday situations — not a hearing aid or medical device. It has three features:
- Live Boost — real-time microphone-in, headphone-out amplification.
- File Booster — boosts audio/video files you choose to import.
- Settings Guide — free, informational content about iOS's built-in loudness settings, with no data collection at all.
Live Boost and the microphone
Live Boost uses your device's microphone to amplify sound around you in real time, played back through your headphones. That audio is processed entirely on-device, in memory — it is never recorded, saved, transmitted, or sent to any server. Brown Forces has no backend for this app and never receives or sees this audio in any form.
The File Booster and your files
When you import an audio or video file to boost, it is a file you explicitly choose using the iOS Files picker. That file is copied into the app's local, on-device storage and is never uploaded anywhere.
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking
BFTS Volume Boost has no sign-in, no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
In-app purchase
Live Boost and the File Booster unlock with a one-time in-app purchase, processed entirely by Apple's App Store. Brown Forces never sees or stores your payment information.
Children
BFTS Volume Boost collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Flagstick
The short version: Flagstick has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your location is used only while a round is open and never leaves your phone. Your photos and scores stay on your device.
What Flagstick is
Flagstick is a golf GPS rangefinder. It shows how far you are from the green and from hazards, tracks your shots, keeps your scorecard, and makes a shareable card of your round. There is no sign-in and no account of any kind.
Location
Flagstick requests location access only as "While Using the App", and uses it for exactly one purpose: to calculate distances from where you are standing to the green and to hazards on the hole you are playing.
Your position is never transmitted, never stored on a server, and never shared. It exists only in the app on your phone while a round is open. Flagstick does not declare any background location mode and does not track you when it is closed.
Photos
If you add a photo to a round card, that photo is stored in the app on your device so the card can be redrawn later. It is never uploaded. When you share a card, it goes through the standard iOS share sheet, so you choose exactly where it goes.
What does leave your device
Flagstick ships with courses in the Coachella Valley already inside the app; playing those requires no network connection at all.
When you search for or download a course somewhere else, the app sends the coordinates or the course name you are searching for to the Overpass API, a free public service that serves OpenStreetMap data. When a round starts, it sends the coordinates of that course to Open-Meteo, a free public weather and elevation service, to work out what your shot plays like.
These requests carry only the coordinates being looked up. They include no account, no device identifier and nothing about you, because the app holds no such information to send.
No analytics, no ads, no tracking
Flagstick contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting or attribution service. Brown Forces operates no servers for this app and receives no information from it whatsoever.
Deleting your data
All of your rounds, photos, club distances and downloaded courses live inside the app on your device. Deleting the app removes all of it permanently. There is nothing held anywhere else to request or erase.
Children
Flagstick is rated for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, including children.
Course data and credits
Golf course geometry comes from OpenStreetMap contributors and is used under the Open Database License. Elevation and weather come from Open-Meteo. Both are credited in the app’s Settings screen.
Yardages are GPS estimates, typically accurate to within a few yards. They are a guide, not a substitute for your own judgement.

What Apple shows on the App Store listing, and why:
BFTS Teleprompter & Camera
The short version: BFTS Teleprompter & Camera has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your scripts stay on your device, your photos and video go only to your Photos library when you choose, and the camera feed never leaves your phone. Two optional remote-control features, both off until you switch them on, let an assistant load the next take for you — what they do and do not carry is set out below.
What BFTS Teleprompter & Camera is
BFTS Teleprompter & Camera is a teleprompter combined with a camera. You type or paste a script, it scrolls on screen while you record yourself, and you can capture photos and video from the same view. There is no sign-in and no account of any kind.
Your scripts
Scripts you type are stored only on your device, in the app’s local documents folder. They are never uploaded, synced or shared by the app. Deleting a script in the app, or deleting the app, removes them.
Camera and microphone
The app asks for camera and microphone access solely to record photos and video and to show you the on-screen self-view while you read. The camera and microphone feed is processed on your device and never leaves it. Nothing is streamed or transmitted anywhere.
Photos and video
Photos and video you capture are saved to your Photos library only when you choose to save them. Nothing is uploaded to Brown Forces or to anyone else. Anything you share goes through the standard iOS share sheet, so you decide exactly where it goes.
Agent Link (optional, off by default)
Agent Link is a convenience for filming: when you switch it on in Settings, an assistant on the same network — a laptop in the room, for example — can put the next script on the teleprompter and start, pause or restart the scroll, so you do not have to touch the phone between takes.
It runs only while the app is open and on screen, it accepts connections only from your local network, and every request must carry a random token generated on your device and shown to you in Settings. You can turn it off or generate a new token at any time. Nothing is sent out of the app for this feature.
Cloud Link (optional, off by default)
Cloud Link does the same job when the assistant is not on your network. Because a phone has no address the outside world can reach, the app instead connects out to a relay operated by Brown Forces at prompter.brownforces.io and waits there for commands.
What travels through the relay: script text and commands sent to you by whoever holds your pairing token. The relay passes each command through to your device and holds an undelivered one only briefly, until your app collects it; it is not kept afterwards and is not used for anything else.
What does not travel through it: your saved scripts, your photos, your video, and your camera and microphone feed. The connection carries incoming commands only — the app does not upload anything through it.
Only someone holding your device’s pairing token can send it anything, the feature runs only while the app is open and on screen, and every command that arrives is announced with a banner so nothing appears in front of you without your noticing. It is off until you switch it on and paste a token, and turning it off or changing the token stops it immediately.
No analytics, no ads, no tracking
BFTS Teleprompter & Camera contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting or attribution service and no third-party SDKs of any kind. Nothing you do in the app is measured or reported.
Brown Forces runs exactly one piece of infrastructure for this app: the Cloud Link relay described above, which does nothing at all unless you switch that feature on. It carries commands to your device and is not told anything about you, your scripts, your recordings or your use of the app.
Teleprompter Pro subscription
An optional Teleprompter Pro subscription ($9.99 per month) unlocks additional features. It is billed entirely through Apple. Brown Forces never sees your payment card details or your Apple ID; Apple handles the purchase, renewal, cancellation and refunds under its own terms.
Whether you are subscribed is read on your device from Apple’s StoreKit. That purchase state is not sent to Brown Forces.
Deleting your data
Everything the app holds lives inside the app on your device. Deleting the app removes all of it permanently. Photos and video you already saved to your Photos library remain there under your control. There is nothing held anywhere else to request or erase.
Children
BFTS Teleprompter & Camera collects nothing from anyone, including children.
