Why we run AI on our own hardware
Cloud AI pricing looks cheap until your product starts working. The more people use it, the bigger the bill. On our own hardware, the cost is the hardware — usage going up does not mean invoices going up.
**Cost that doesn't surprise you**
That lets us price products for the people who actually need them — a small district, an independent shop, a city department — instead of pricing for the cloud bill.
**Your data stays put**
When a school uses the K-2 Screener, children's voices and answers are involved. When a barber shop runs our scheduler, customer information is involved. We did not want any of that crossing into someone else's data center where we cannot see what happens to it. On our hardware, it lives on our hardware. Full stop.
**We can tune the machine to the job**
A lot of what we build — the voice engine, the screener's read-aloud, the document tools — works best when the model is close to the data and the audio pipeline is close to the model. Owning the stack means we can shape it to the work. We are not fighting someone else's defaults.
**It's not free of tradeoffs**
Owning hardware means we handle uptime, cooling, upgrades, and the occasional 2 a.m. call. It means we cannot scale to infinity in an afternoon. We think those are acceptable costs for a company that wants predictable pricing, private data, and a product that keeps working the way we designed it.
That is the build philosophy. Quiet, owned, tuned. AI that makes things easy — running on machines we can point at.
