The Bench: From First Course to First Contract
Most people who want to work in AI think the path starts with a four-year computer science degree. It does not. The path starts with a free course and the discipline to finish it.The Brown Forces Bench is the working roster of people we deploy when integration contracts come in. Bench members are paid when deployed. They are not interns and they are not volunteers. They are Claude Certified Architects who earned the credential through the Brown Forces Academy and the Anthropic Academy — and they get the call when a real project starts. Here is what the path looks like.**Step One — The Anthropic Academy**Thirteen free courses, published by Anthropic, the company that builds Claude. The courses cover AI fluency, prompt engineering, building with Claude, agentic architecture, and the production patterns that real Claude integrations are built on. Every course awards an official Anthropic certificate. You take them on your own schedule. You do not need a degree. You do not need to live near a campus. You need a computer and the willingness to finish what you start.**Step Two — The Claude Certified Architect (CCA)**After the Anthropic courses, you complete the Brown Forces internal certification — the CCA. This is not a re-test of what you already learned. It is a demonstration that you can take a real customer problem and design a working Claude integration for it. The CCA is granted by Brown Forces as an Anthropic Claude partner studio. It is the credential that gets you onto the Bench.**Step Three — The Bench**The Bench is not a resume folder. It is a working roster. When Brown Forces lands an integration contract — and we land them — we pull from the Bench first. You get paid for the work you do. You build a portfolio of real production deployments. You learn from the projects that come through, not from imagined coursework. Over time, the senior Bench members become the leads who train the next cohort.**What this is not**This is not a sales funnel for an expensive bootcamp. The Anthropic courses are free. The CCA process through Brown Forces is structured, evaluated work — not a fee we ask you to pay. This is also not a guarantee. The Bench is a roster, not a job. We pull from it when contracts come in. The members who finish the courses, earn the certification, and stay sharp are the ones who get the call.**Who this is for**Anyone curious enough to start. The path filters for people who finish what they start. The Bench rewards the people who do the work without being asked. The Coachella Valley does not need to send its talent to other regions to work in AI. The work can come here. We are building the pipeline that makes that possible. If you want to start, the Academy is open. Begin with the first course. Finish it. Then start the next one. The path is real and it is in front of you.Join the Academy at brownforces.io/academy.
