YouTube Premium bundles Peacock — and the deal only works if you actually watch Peacock
YouTube Premium now includes Peacock — NBCUniversal's streaming service — as part of its subscription. The Premium plan, at $13.99 a month, used to just remove ads and allow background playback. Now it also gives you access to Peacock, which on its own costs $5.99 with ads or $13.99 without.
This means YouTube is bundling Peacock content: news, sports, telenovelas, shows you used to have to pay for separately. Peacock has Latin content — telenovelas, entertainment shows — that la gente already watches on Facebook and TikTok. What used to be a separate streaming channel now lives inside the app you use to watch videos from primos, recipes, and comedy.
The numbers matter: Peacock alone costs $5.99 with ads. YouTube Premium costs $13.99. Add them separately and you're looking at $19.98. The bundle saves $5.99 — but only if you actually use Peacock. If you watch more YouTube videos than Peacock content, the real value is different.
There's a bigger piece too: NBCUniversal is owned by Comcast, which also owns Xfinity, the biggest cable provider in the country. Content bundling like this is the strategy of big entertainment corporations: fewer separate options, more content inside apps they already have.
Why this matters for us: si la gente paga más por un solo paquete que incluye Peacock — y Peacock tiene contenido que la comunidad usa — el costo de ver lo que nos importa sube, y las opciones se reducen.
“Peacock por sí solo cuesta $5.99. YouTube Premium, $13.99. Si los pagas por separado, son $19.98. El paquete ahorra $5.99 — pero solo si realmente usas Peacock.”
