YouTube bans a bunch of ASMR artists for being too sexy, and la gente is mad

YouTube told a bunch of ASMR creators — Bunnii, Slight Sounds, Rose, and others — their videos broke the sex and nudity policy. The rule is supposed to catch porn and explicit content. These artists are neither.

ASMR is the sound of a whisper, a tap on the mic, a breath close to your ear. It's meant to relax you. YouTube decided a whisper is too intimate, a face too close is too suggestive, and suddenly half a dozen channels got the axe. The bans are unfair. They're also potentially life-altering — these aren't hobbyists posting for fun. This is their livelihood, their audience, their channel.

The question isn't whether ASMR is sexy. It's whether YouTube's policy can actually tell the difference between a whisper and a moan, and whether the people making the call know the difference.
