LinkedIn's AI slop button: 1M clicks and counting
LinkedIn dropped a button that says "Seems like AI slop" on July 30, and the company says over a million people have already clicked it. It lives on the three dots menu under each post—tap it, flag the post, done.
The button came a few weeks after Pangram, an AI detector, found that 41 percent of LinkedIn's longform posts were flagged as fully AI generated. The slop button sits alongside new classifiers to identify AI posts and the removal of a feature that would have let people filter them out. Hari Srinivasan, the chief product officer, posted the numbers on Thursday.
Why this matters for us: la gente's been telling each other for months that the feed smells like AI—this is the company finally acknowledging it, even if the fix is just a click.
“Four in ten longform posts flagged as AI—people aren't imagining it.”
