Kobo eReaders now sync to StoryGraph — no Amazon needed

StoryGraph is the quiet rival to Goodreads, and Kobo just made it easier to use. Now when you finish a book on your Kobo, the reading progress, stats, and challenges sync automatically. No manual entry, no app to open.

The big win here is independence from Amazon. Goodreads lives inside the Kindle app — if you want to log a read, you're already in Amazon's world. StoryGraph is its own thing. You pick it up, you read, it tracks.

StoryGraph has been around for a few years. It's been a side project that grew. The core features are the same: shelf your books, rate them, set yearly challenges, see how fast you're reading. What makes it work for a lot of people is that it doesn't push you toward Amazon. It doesn't try to sell you more books. It just counts.

Kobo and StoryGraph's partnership means the sync is automatic. Open the book on your eReader, read, close it. The progress shows up on StoryGraph. You can set reading challenges, track streaks, and see how you compare to other readers without any extra steps.

The eReader market is still split between Kindle and Kobo, with a handful of others. For the people who prefer Kobo — the ones who don't want their reading tied to Amazon's store — this is a small but real win. More choice. Less lock-in.

Why this matters for us: if our families are reading on Kobo instead of Kindle, they keep their books and stats in their own hands — not buried in Amazon's app.

“No manual entry, no app to open — just pick it up, read, done.”
