Instagram's TV app is going long-form — and live

Instagram is pushing its TV app into longer content. The app will carry episodic series and live programming, stretching beyond the reels and stories that have defined the platform so far.

The move puts Instagram in direct competition with the streaming services that have been eating into attention for years. TikTok is doing something similar, and YouTube's been pushing longer content for a while now. Instagram's just catching up — but with one advantage: it already has the audience.

For the folks on the app, it means more variety. For creators, it means new ways to monetize. For the rest of us, it's just another signal of where the attention is going — and who's trying to grab it.

Why this matters for us: as Instagram reshapes what we watch and how we watch it, the creators and small businesses that already know how to speak to our comunidad will be the ones who stay visible when the feeds shift.
