IBM's MCP tool auto-closes tickets from your terminal logs

IBM has released MCP Context Forge, an open-source tool that turns error logs into closed tickets — without leaving your terminal.

The tool uses the Model Context Protocol to connect your local environment to IBM's Watsonx and ServiceNow. You paste or feed an error log into your terminal, and the system drafts a support ticket, attaches the log, and can even close it automatically once the fix lands.

No web portal. No copy-paste into a browser. Just terminal commands.

The GitHub repo is public: github.com/IBM/mcp-context-forge. It's built on MCP, the protocol that lets AI tools talk to other tools. IBM positions it as a way to reduce friction between developers and IT support.

TLDR DevOps reported it as part of their weekly roundup, noting the angle: "from error log to closed ticket without leaving your terminal."

The tool requires Watsonx and ServiceNow credentials. It's not a standalone magic box. You need the IBM stack already in your org.

That's a big caveat. This isn't for the solo dev with a GitHub issue. It's for teams already running Watsonx and ServiceNow at scale.

Still, the idea is simple: stop making devs context-switch between terminal, browser, email, and ticketing. Let one tool chain handle it.

Why this matters for us:
If your shop runs IBM's stack, this cuts the friction between fixing code and getting IT to log it — but if you're not already on Watsonx and ServiceNow, it's just a demo that won't touch your workflow.
