Faking a brand is a one-prompt away
A16Z put up a post on how easy it is to generate a convincing fake brand — logo, tagline, color palette, even a few press mentions — using a handful of prompts. The point isn't that AI is impressive; it's that the friction to look legitimate has collapsed. Anyone with a browser can now spin up a brand that looks like it was designed by a real studio.
The real question is what happens when that's the default. A side business can now look like a company. A scam can look like a company. A real small business that spent weeks on a logo will compete against something that took 30 seconds. The bar for looking legit is no longer the bar — it's the floor.
Why this matters for us: la gente is going to start seeing fakes everywhere, so we need a sharper eye for what's real and a way to call out what's not.
